"Voice of the Diaspora" is a multimedia communications initiative by the Social Research Center designed to build a living bridge between India and Latin America through personal stories and professional experiences. Our primary mission is to create a platform for Indian professionals and students residing in Latin America, empowering them to become the voice of their diaspora. This fosters mutual cultural understanding and highlights the region's potential for an Indian audience. We place a special emphasis on key areas such as youth and education, community sustainability, and advocacy. By actively engaging communities in the co-creation of solutions tailored to their needs, we ensure our work is both relevant and impactful. Through strategic partnerships with local leaders, civil society, diaspora networks, international organizations, and government bodies, we strive to secure equal access to resources and safeguard the rights of Indian and diaspora communities.
What We Do
Building an Expert Community:
We actively seek out and invite members of the Indian diaspora across Latin America to share their unique experiences, career journeys, and cultural insights
Youth Engagement:
We invest in youth as architects of long-term progress. By providing access to knowledge, skills, and diaspora networks, we cultivate leaders who can transform challenges into opportunities for sustainable community development.
Content Creation & Networking:
We create opportunities for socialization and professional networking by publishing interviews, personal stories, photos, and videos in a dedicated section on our website and across our social media channels.
Research & Analysis:
·We conduct targeted research and analysis to develop practical engagement strategies. Our goal is to generate innovative ideas and advocate for policies that are grounded in the real needs and priorities of the communities we serve.
Bharat Bajaj
Project coordinator
I am Bharat, an engineering graduate from IIT Delhi and an MBA from XLRI, Jamshedpur. For the past three years, I have been living in Mexico City, and during this time I have developed a deep appreciation for the culture, lifestyle, and everyday warmth of the people here. Living in a different country has completely changed the way I see the world, and becoming fluent in Spanish has helped me connect more deeply with people and truly understand their stories.
I am an avid traveler and have explored more than 34 countries so far. What excites me most about traveling is not just visiting new places, but immersing myself in different cultures, cuisines, and perspectives. I especially enjoy attending music festivals around the world — for me, they are the perfect combination of travel, culture, and shared human energy. I am naturally curious and always eager to learn more about local traditions, cultural nuances, and the stories that connect people across borders.
Working on the Voice of the Diaspora project is something that feels very personal to me. Having lived abroad myself, I understand how powerful personal stories can be, they help people feel seen, understood, and connected. I genuinely enjoy listening to people talk about their journeys, their challenges, and the experiences that shaped them. Also, what motivates me most is the idea that this project can grow into a meaningful bridge between cultures, especially between India and Latin America. I would love to see it develop into a space where students, professionals, and diaspora communities can share their experiences openly and inspire others who are thinking about moving abroad or exploring new cultures
